Using indicators while changing lanes is very important for maintaining safety on the roads. As part of their Safety Trail campaign, the Abu Dhabi Police has urged motorists to make use of indicators promptly whenever they change lanes to avoid traffic accidents and fines.

Violators will be fined up to Dh400 for changing lanes without the use of indicators, said an official.

Colonel Nasser Abdullah Al-Saadi, head of security media department, explained that Abu Dhabi police has been promoting the campaign through its social media with an aim to spread awareness on safe driving practices.

He emphasized that changing lanes without using indicators, distracts the vehicle behind or in a parallel path. Doing so leads to accidents, especially when some drivers try to manoeuvre in traffic jams.

He urged drivers to indicate their intention much ahead of changing lanes and not suddenly. Signals should be used whenever drivers are slowing down the vehicle or changing lanes or for emergencies on the road.
