Dubai - Looks like it is going to be really hot this Eid Al Fitr with temperature on Monday touching 49 degree Celsius and humidity down to a 20 per cent.
Dubai residents stated that 'it was like being inside an oven' and the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that the weather is expected to be cloudy and dusty for the next few days as well. Internal areas showed a maximum of 43 to 49 degree Celsius, whereas coastal areas showed highs of 38 to 44 degree Celsius. An official from the NCMS said: "Partly cloudy and hazy weather was prevalent over some areas. Moderate to fresh winds was prevalent in general, causing blowing dust over some areas causing reduced visibility."
He stated that the weather will continue to be hot till the weekend or for the next three days. "People must take care of themselves in this weather. Be sure to not expose yourself to the mid-afternoon sun," added the official. Since many of the residents are fasting for Ramadan, it is advisable to stay away from the heat till they open their fast.
The NCMS has also issued a warning against fresh southerly to southeasterly wind over the Arabian Gulf and Oman sea today. These winds are likely to cause dusty conditions in Dubai.
Residents said that the weather has been unbearably hot in the last three days. "Stepping out for a little over 10 minutes was hard work. I had to pick up my son from the bus stop after his summer camp, which is less that a five minute walk away from my house. When we returned home we were both drenched in sweat," said Sharjah resident Sudha Mathew.
Dubai resident Javed Navakib said: "This is one of the worst summers I've experienced here. It's like being inside an oven. If there are any families planning to celebrate Eid Al Fitr at a park, I'd suggest that they change their plans and celebrate in an air-conditioned space instead."
