The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has opened the Salma bridge for traffic. Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, said the Dh21 million project will boost traffic flow in the emirate.
Ahmed Al Hammadi, manager of roads department, said the Salma entrance project has been carried out in two phases.
"The first phase involved the construction of a bridge on the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road at the entrance of Salma area."
Two roundabouts as well as entrances and exits were built on both sides of the bridge as part of the second phase, he added. "Lamp posts, sign boards and metal barriers were also installed on the bridge and road to ensure public safety."
Al Hammadi said further road works are still underway. "However, these will have no effect on the traffic flow."
