An Asian resident was killed in a road accident on the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road in Umm Al Quwain on Thursday morning.
The driver of the car, in which the deceased was travelling sustained moderate injuries, according to Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of Traffic and Patrols Department of the UAQ Police Directorate-General.
The central operations room of the UAQ Police was alerted of the accident on Thursday at 8:42am.
"Initial enactment of the accident showed that the accident was caused by speeding."
The driver of the car lost control over the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned several times, he added.
"Both the dead passenger and driver were stuck in the car and the civil defence team used special equipment to rescue them."
The body of the victim was shifted to the morgue, while the injured driver was rushed to the Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Umm Al Quwain.
