In 2017, the UAE approved a decision to grant visa on arrival to Indian passport holders with residence visa from UK and the European Union.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Earlier that year, the UAE Cabinet had approved a decision to grant Indian passport holders with either a valid US visa or a green card a visa on arrival.

The decision comes within the framework of the long-term strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India, the promotion of political, economic and trade interests between the two countries. This decision strengthens the UAE's external relations by facilitating the visa issuance process in order to confirm its global status as a tourist and economic hub.

Cabinet approves VAT, excise tax executive regulations

The UAE Cabinet also approved value-added tax and excise tax executive regulations in line with the agreement signed among the GCC countries.

Law on minor offenses

The cabinet also approved the law replacing minor penalties with community service work for the benefit of the society. Sheikh Mohammed said community service work is not for punishing and defaming but to serve the nation and teach humility in a civilised way.
