The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomed on Wednesday the third batch of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who availed themselves of the UAE's immigration amnesty program.
A total of 129 OFWs from Abu Dhabi and Al Ain arrived at Terminal 1 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 8.40am (Manila time) via Philippine Airlines flight PR657.
According to Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, the latest batch - the first to be repatriated from Abu Dhabi - brought to 345 the total number of Filipinos flown home by the DFA since the start of the UAE's amnesty program on August 1.
The DFA shouldered the cost of the exit fees and plane tickets, and also handed out Dh365 ($100) financial assistance to each OFW upon arrival in Manila.
The first two batches of 216 OFWs were all repatriated from Dubai.
