An Indonesian woman in her 40s died in a collision accident after her driver made a hurried U-turn in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

The car in which the victim was travelling was being driven by a 25-year-old Asian. According to the police, he did not check the road before making the U-turn. The 20-year-old driver of the other car was driving on the correct lane and within the stipulated speed limit, a senior police official said.

Col Ali Saeed Al Alkeem, director of the RAK traffic and patrols department, said the accident took place on the Seeh road close to the American University RAK.

Police patrols and paramedics were dispatched to the site and the three victims were rushed to the nearest hospital, where the woman was declared brought dead. The driver of her car is recuperating in a critical state. The other motorist sustained minor injuries, Col Alkeem added.
