Spending over Dh780 million, the Ministry of Public Works will renovate seven vital roads in three emirates - Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), and Fujairah.
Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, on Tuesday said the arterial roads are key to sustainable development in the country.
"They will give a boost to economic boom and social welfare."
The seven roads intended to connect and ease inter-city transport will connect the emirates with all ports of the country, he added.
"The proposed rebuilding project includes Sharjah-Dhaid road, as well as the 14km Etihad Road in RAK, the Emirates Road from Al Twain to the RAK Ring Road, and the Kalba Ring Road and patches to Al Hail area - first stage."
The development of the Shaam-Dara border road, Western Khor Fakkan Ring Road are included in second stage (E199), while the road between the Twain roundabout - Emirates Road - and Etihad Road for the third stage, he added.
Dr Nuaimi said the ministry, as part of its strategic objectives, is to connect all the roads of the country with a network of roads as per the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
"The move is meant to provide the highest standard of living to all nationals and residents here, and ensure convenient connection among members of the society by linking all cities, regions, and towns of the UAE with high quality and secure network of roads."
Noting, the minister said they are adopting the best global practices in road projects to ensure a quantum leap in sustainable development in the country.
