A source at the Department of Public Works and Services told Khaleej Times that they have specified all the roads that need to be paved.

In one year, potholes which are giving 'hard times to the residents' of Bedouin areas will be repaired, Khaleej Times has learnt.

A source at the Department of Public Works and Services told Khaleej Times that they have specified all the roads that need to be paved.

"The move is in response to several complaints received from the public about the lack of paved roads at the Bedouin areas. Though many have already been developed, more internal roads are needed at these areas."Recently, the department has built a big number of internal roads at the bedouin areas in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Municipality, he added.Saeed Salem, an Emirati living in Rashid district at Julphar area, said though the neighbourhood has been built for ten years, it is still lacking good roads."Hope that new roads will be built at this district. However, the newly developed roads at the areas of Al Dheit, Al Seeh, Al Rifaa, and Al Jazeera Al Hamra were up to the highest standards."

Ibrahim Abdulaziz, an Emirati of the same district, said many of the roads here not only lack pavement, but also enough light."The uneven roads here turn into ponds of water during rain."

Ali Abdullah, an Emirati of Al Dheit area, said the roads built by the Abu Dhabi Municipality have eased the suffering of the people here.

"The remaining roads need to be built soon, and equipped with enough light to curb deadly traffic accidents."

Mustafa Darwish, an Emirati of Al Rifaa area, said many people have moved to newly expanded districts, adding that "the uneven roads are giving hard time to residents of these districts."

Sulaiman Awadh, a resident of Al Seeh area, said: We have repetitively complained about lack of paved roads. Driving on these rough and dark roads is so dangerous."
