An Emirati family is seeking the help of Sharjah residents to find their lost pet.
In a post on social media site Reddit, user Something_Wicked uploaded a photo depicting a missing pet poster in Sharjah. The poster is for a missing African Gray Parrot:
Our African Gray Parrot has gone missing. He is a valued member of the family, please help us find him. We are offering Dh1,500 as a reward for whoever finds him.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Emirati brothers Omran and Faisal Ali said the parrot is like a family member to them. "He has been with us for more than four years now, a gift from a friend. He talks a lot despite having breathing problems, and even knows some Arabic," Omran said.
Their beloved pet went missing after it clawed its way up to the roof of their house. "He likes to climb. We think he flew off from there."

The brothers received a lot of calls after they put up missing posters around their neighbourhood. While the siblings have received multiple calls from concerned residents, most were dead ends.
"A lot of people have been calling us claiming they found our parrot," Omran added.
"It's been hectic. Just today, five guys have called claiming they found it," Faisal said.
Their family owns 3 parrots: two African grey parrots and one macaw. The family doesn't clip their wings - a common practice among bird owners.
24 days have passed since the parrot first went missing, yet the family is still hopeful.
"I hope the right person will call. When our pet returns, we will nurture him back to health. Animals are usually frightened when they come back after being lost for a while," Omran said.
Residents can contact Omran and his siblings on the following numbers: 050-577-7119, 050-202-0639 or 050-547-7990
The African gray parrot (Psittacus erithacus) is a species of parrot characterised by its distinctive, scalloped gray plumage. It is native to a wide part of the African continent. The bird is known to possess a high level of intelligence.
