A total of 300 Haj pilgrims departed for Mecca through the Sharjah International Airport on Tuesday morning.

To facilitate their travel, Sharjah International Airport Authority is providing special facilities and services to the pilgrims. The authority assigned them smart gates to register and clear their passports and transactions within a few seconds.
The administration has also set up three reception halls to provide comfort to the pilgrims.

The authority organized a special event to mark the 'Haj Season' recently. The event was organized in cooperation with the Department of Awqaf in Sharjah. The department chose special preachers to answer the pilgrims' queries and provide information to raise awareness about performing Haj rituals.

Sugar and pressure tests were provided for the pilgrims along with tips and instructions to protect themselves from contagious diseases. The pilgrims were also told about the importance of taking the required vaccines.

Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qasimi, director of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: "The authority has been working - long before the Haj season - to increase the number of operating teams in the airport and assigning additional staff to facilitate the travel procedures for the pilgrims."

"Sharjah airport endeavours to keep raising the standards of the services offered to its travellers especially during peak seasons like Haj. The increase in the number of travellers during such periods also requires additional arrangements and facilities to ensure smooth flow of traffic at the airport," he added.

Many pilgrims expressed satisfaction at the services offered at the airport. They praised the authorities for making the procedures easy.
