People have been making prank calls to a social media app dedicated to informing UAE residents of local funeral prayers.
The application manager, Abdullah Almarzooqi, stated that they have been receiving either prank SMS messages or phone calls informing their service that their relative or loved one had passed away.
But upon investigation, it turned out that the so-called deceased person was still alive.
Even after such persons have been notified of the lack of sensitivity of such prank calls, they would merely block the service's number and proceed to give another false notification from another number.
According to reports from Emarat Al Youm, the service entitled "Janaza UAE", has been offered for free for over ten years.
They provide details as to the deceased's name and the mosque where the funeral prayer will be held.
