The department of public services has launched an all new system to control entities and institutions in Ras Al Khaimah.
Ahmed Al Shehi, advisor to the department of public services, said: "The smart inspector system, launched on Sunday, is in line with the department' efforts to adopt smart governance."
Records show that the department inspectors have issued 3,226 tickets this year against anti-environment violations.
The system stores all data, violations, fines and penalties against the entities, according to Al Shehi
The new system is to accelerate procedures, and save time and effort, he added. "All institutions operating in the emirate will be registered in the new system. Field inspectors will depend on it to take decisions, particularly when issuing or renewing licences."
A smart inspection system adopted by the environment protection and development authority had recently helped detect 17 violations in industrial and occupational institutions.  "It helped the authority issue 223 warning letters against erring institutions that later corrected their positions."

Recycling factory

The emirate is currently seeing the construction of the biggest factory for sorting wastes, Al Shehi said. "The factory, being built on a total area of 25,000 square feet, will be sorting out up to 500 tonnes of wastes on a daily basis when completed."
The department had established three units for converting food wastes into fertilisers at the Muairidh and Saqr Park, he added. Three more units will be installed for recycling these wastes and turn inedible food into organic fertilisers.
