His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has paid the school fees of up to 1,971 expatriate students of low-income families in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Sumaia Hareb Al Suwaidi, chairperson of the Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Charitable Educational Establishment, spoke of the RAK Ruler's donation while unveiling their Ramadan programmes.
"The establishment paid the schools fees of 350 students, worth Dh2.2 million. This was part of the 'Let us help them' drive," she said. "Our staff social workers have studied the case of 317 new cases, who will need Dh1.654 million for the new academic year 2019-2020.
"We are also sponsoring 11 students at the American University in Ras Al Khaimah under the RAK Ruler scholarship programme," she added.
"The 1,971 students from 20 different nationalities studying the Ministry of Education syllabus during the evening shift. Some of these are also enrolled the Talented Academy, and new Autism Centre."
Hareb said they are to run 15 Iftar tents where up to 2,500 free Iftar meals are to be served every day. "Ramadan Meer or foodstuff packages are to be contributed to 500 low-income families, while Eid clothes will be distributed to eligible families in the second half of Ramadan."
