Motorists heading to or from Ras Al Khaimah to other emirates via Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, Exit 122, need to take extra caution. The Ras Al Khaimah Police have issued a warning on Thursday afternoon following a traffic accident that caused traffic jams on the road.
"The road accident has significantly hampered traffic flow," they said. "Drivers need to reduce speed, be careful, and take alternative roads to avoid traffic snarls."
Police sources said the accident took place around 12 noon.
The central operations room of the RAK Police, alerted about the traffic accident, immediately dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, paramedics, and rescue teams to the scene.
"Initial enactment of the mishap blamed it on speeding and inattentive driving," they said. "All drivers need to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations."
Official records showed that most of the road accidents reported across the country were blamed on speeding, inattentive driving, swerving and ignoring safety distance.
