A man sustained injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded in his house in Dahan area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
On being alerted about the incident, the central operations room of the RAK Police immediately dispatched an ambulance, paramedics and civil defence rescue teams to the site.
Informed sources at the civil defence department said that the investigations showed that fire broke out due to the sudden blast of a LPG cylinder.
"The firefighters of the civil defence department of the Ras Al Khaimah police managed to evacuate the house and nearby houses and put out the fire before it could spread to other places."
The national ambulance paramedics provided first aid to the injured man who "immediately moved the other LPG cylinders outside the house when he discovered the fire, and that was blamed for the injuries he received".
The man, whose hands and face were burnt in the fire, was shifted to the hospital for treatment and medical care.
Investigation is underway to identify the reasons behind the blast, they said.
"The public needs to be careful about the LPG cylinders and always change them from approved suppliers, and check if there is any leak before usage to avoid such dangerous and sudden blasts."
"LPG cylinders must be tightly closed after the end of cooking to avoid gas leak risks," the sources underlined. "Emergency exits, be they in houses or departments, must be available to help save people's life."
Few days ago, the firefighters had managed to evacuate a two-floor villa and rescue people in a massive blaze, which erupted at a room in the first floor in Habhab area of the emirate of Fujairah - close to the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
