A 20-year-old Emirati, identified as R.M.A., died in an accident involving four vehicles on the Masafi-Fujairah road late on Tuesday.
Colonel Ali Saeed Mohammed Al Alkeem, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, RAK Police, said that initial assessment showed a wrong overtaking bid by the Emirati driver, a friend of the deceased, led to the tragedy.
"He rammed into the car running ahead, lost control over the steering wheel, got into a spin several times, and collided again with two water tankers on the road. Three people, including the driver of the vehicle which caused the accident and two Asian drivers of water tankers, were injured. They have been shifted to the nearest hospital and are in good condition."
"The erring driver, identified as A.A.A., was attempting to overtake another car ahead in a two-way road with no median. He was not attentive enough to notice the car correctly running on the other direction."
Col. Alkeem said the driver of the first car tried to avoid collision with the car driven by another Emirati youth, A.K.A, but to no avail.
