Firefighters of the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence department have managed to put out a massive fire at an apartment here in Al Nakheel area.
Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, director of the RAK civil defence department, said the timely intervention of the firefighters helped rescue eight people trapped in the burning apartment.
The central operations room of the RAK police were alerted of the blaze and immediately dispatched paramedics, rescue teams and firefighters to the site. Rescue ladders were used to shift the trapped people to safety, he added.
"The public needs to regularly maintain their air conditioners, and the stoves need to be properly maintained and turned off," Al Zaabi said.
The reason for the fire is still unclear. No casualties have been reported in the fire.
