Two young men are facing trial in RAK Misdemeanour Court for allegedly stealing a sacrificial sheep before Eid Al Adha.
As per court records, the case unfolded when the owner of the sheep reported the Ras Al Khaimah Police that he had been robbed of the animal. He said he was planning to sacrifice the sheep on Eid Al Adha.
The complainant couldn't name the accused. "The unidentified thieves scaled the wall of my house during night and took away my sheep," he told the CID officers.
The RAK Police initiated investigations, collected all the information and evidence available that helped track down the robbers, who turned out to be two young men.
The duo was caught red-handed while selling the sheep at the Bridge Livestock Animal Market in Ras Al Khaimah.
They were arrested and handed over to the RAK public prosecution, which referred them to the RAK Misdemeanour Court.
The defendants, however, denied the charges and insisted that they did not steal the sheep. "It is ours, and we were selling it only to make some money," they claimed.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to September 16 to pronounce a ruling.
