A nine-year-old Arab girl escaped certain death after the toilet of her house, located on the Corniche Al Qawasim, was completely gutted in a fire.
"The firefighters put out the blaze, and prevented the raging flames from spreading to other areas of the house," sources said.
Water and foam were used to douse the fire, they added.
After being alerted of the accident, the central operations room of the RAK Police immediately dispatched the firefighters, an ambulance, paramedics and rescue teams to the site.
"The girl was almost choked due to the heavy smoke that filled the toilet. She was quickly rescued."
The incident has been referred to the departments concerned to ascertain the reasons behind the fire.
All electric devices, mainly the heaters and air conditions, should be checked on a regular basis to avoid any short circuit, the sources pointed out.
"All LPG supplies need to be checked as well to avoid any possible leakage."
