Seven-year-old Emirati boy Abdullah Hamad Al Kutbi had been nursing a dream of donning the police uniform and regulating the traffic. His wish was granted on Sunday, courtesy Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The Grade 2 student sported the official police lieutenant uniform and was allowed to spend an hour with traffic patrols officers out in the field. The boy was taught by the officers to deal with vehicles, drivers and school buses and take necessary measures to protect students.
Thrilled and overjoyed as he was, the little boy carried out the duty of a traffic cop with a lot of enthusiasm. It instilled in him a sense of responsibility and pride as he did his job.
Al Kutbi also accompanied the police officers to Othman bin Abi Private School to greet the students at the start of another academic session. As part of the ongoing 'Student Safety' campaign, the police officers conducted classes on road rules in the school.
Brigadier General Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director general of central operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that Al Kutbi will be able to work in the police force in the future. The RAK Police gave the child an opportunity to regulate traffic for an hour on his request, he added.
