Five hashish dealers have been nabbed by the anti-narcotics department of the Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The suspect, all Africans, have been arrested in collaboration with the anti-narcotics federal department, said Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the RAK Police.
"The department was tipped off about five drug dealers with a large amount of hashish in their possession."
The drug dealers were planning to peddle the narcotics in the emirate, revealed Col Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the anti-narcotics department at the RAK Police.
"A special team from the department was formed to track the suspects who were later caught red-handed, with the help of the department of special tasks," he said.
A trap was set and the five suspects were caught in a house they were staying in the emirate, he added. Hashish and fake cash notes were also seized. They have been referred to the bodies responsible for legal action.
"The RAK Police spare no effort to secure the emirate against drug dealers who mostly target young people," Al Zaabi said.
