38,000 families chill out at Jebel Jais during Eid

Ras Al Khaimah - Crowds of residents, tourists and visitors also flocked to the public parks, hotels and other sites of the emirate.

Over 38,000 people celebrated Eid Al Fitr holidays on Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the country, said the authorities in Ras Al Khaimah.
Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of the public works and services department in RAK, said the recently constructed rest houses on Jebel Jais attracted various tourists and families. "Up to 9,500 vehicles registered at the Jebel Jais mountain on the first two days of Eid. These included 4,000 on the first day and 5,500 on the second day - with an average of four members per car."
Crowds of residents, tourists and visitors also flocked to the public parks, hotels and other sites of the emirate, he added. "The Saqr public park saw thousands of visitors during the three days of the holidays. The park, which offered free entry on the first day of the Eid, witnessed 3,677 visitors. The Corniche Al Qawasim and Old Corniche saw more visitors at night. Visitors were keen to enjoy the pleasant weather.
The department deployed more inspection patrols to curb environment violations, mainly at the Jebel Jais, beaches and parks, said Al Hammadi. "The Raqib or monitor environment patrols protected the aesthetic image of the emirate and curbed environment violations."
A fine of Dh500 was slapped on violators. The fine is doubled in case of repetition."
Records show that inspectors registered 226 environment violations on the two days of Eid Al Fitr holidays, he added. "On top of the violations recorded, over 90 per cent was due to dumping wastes from the car window."
