The Ras Al Khaimah firefighters have managed to rescue 30 housemaids after a massive blaze broke into their accommodation in Al Rasm city late Monday evening.
The central operations room of the RAK police, having been alerted of the inferno, dispatched civil defence firefighters, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site.
Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, director of the RAK civil defence, said the Halila civil defence firefighters were the nearest to the fire and immediately took action.
"The 30 housemaids in the house were evacuated from the burning building which also contained five LPG cylinders."
The competent firefighters managed to put out the flames using water and foam, he added.
"They contained the blaze before it could spread to nearby houses. The five LPG cylinders were moved to a safe place."
Luckily, no human casualties were reported in the fire, he pointed out. "Only minor financial losses were recorded."
Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the blaze, he underlined.
