The department of public works of Ras Al Khaimah has offered a 30 per cent discount on all environmental violations recorded to mark the holy month of Ramadan.
The one-month discount is in line with the Year of Tolerance campaign, according to Eng Ahmad Al Hammadi, director of the department.
"However, this discount is not applicable to the heavy truck drivers nabbed while escaping from the truck weigh stations."
The discount is also applicable to all the violations registered before the launch of this initiative, he added. "Records show that the staff inspectors have issued 4,000 tickets against a variety of environmental violations across the emirate from the beginning of this year."
Staff inspectors use smart devices to monitor and record all anti-environmental violations, he stated.
"These smart devices help detect and record any violation immediately the device automatically sends an SMS to the mobile phone of the erring person involved showing the type of violation, place, and time."
More inspection raids have been launched recently at different parts of the emirate, particularly natural sites, valleys, and mountains, he explained.
"These natural sites, mainly at Jebel Jais, public beaches, Corniche road, and along the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road, turn into a big attraction for the people from all over the country."
The judicially-empowered staff inspectors keep an eye on all these sites on 55 patrols to ensure their cleanliness and serenity, Al Hammadi underlined.
The public is urged to show cooperation with the department 'Raqib' or 'Monitor' patrols, he advised.
"Illegal and anti-environmental practices need to be immediately reported to the department hot free line (8008118) or via our smart app 'Kolona Rakib' - 'We All Monitor', to preserve the beautiful image of the emirate."
The department of public works, RAK, back in March, offered a 30 per cent discount on all the environmental violations recorded to mark the Happiness Day.
