The family counseling section of the Ras Al Khaimah courts has managed to settle 262 family disputes in the first quarter of the year. Official figures showed that the section received 284 cases in the first three months of the year.
Staff counselors managed to defuse the litigation in 262 of the 284 disputes, according to Moza Shaiban Al Habsi, acting director of community services, RAK courts. "Only 22 were referred to the court for final settlement."
The RAK courts spare no effort to end family disputes in a good and positive way to ensure the family stability due, she added. "There is a growing awareness of the negative impact of family disputes on all members of the family, particularly the young children. The section has also successfully provided many phone-based counseling services that end many family disputes in private way."
The staff family counselors are highly qualified to deal with all nationalities in the country, she pointed out.
"Our counseling services, being available in four different languages, have helped amicably settle disputes among various nationalities, including Europeans and Asians, and Arabs."
Al Habsi said the off-court independent building specified for family cases currently includes the family counselling section and the Family Court. "The off-court setting that ensures due privacy has positively reflected on all the cases heard, and helped end many of them."
