The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department (AMPD) has announced the availability of 2463 new prepaid parking spaces on six vital roads of the emirate effective from September 24.
The six roads include Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid in Rumaila, Sheikh Khalifa road, Al Kuwait Street, Sheikh Zayed road in Al Nuaimiya area, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdul-Aziz road, and Badr street in Al Rashidiya area.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, director-general of Ajman Municipality, said the municipality has included such vital roads in prepaid parking services because of constant traffic movement around the clock. "This project is part of the municipality's keenness to serve the public interest in accordance with the vision of wise leadership that seeks to regulate prosperous life in Ajman."
He pointed out that the project would minimise traffic congestion and prevent exploitation of the parking spaces. He explained the parking inspectors will be deployed to monitor services during the morning and evening periods - from 8am to 1pm and 5pm to 9pm. "This is to ensure that everyone is committed to paying parking fees through the installed machines."
Al Nuaimi said that AMPD is keen to make it easier for everyone who lives in the emirate by providing best services. "Motorists can pay the charges through a number of easy methods like using the payment service or by SMS."
