We are just ten days away from the last long weekend of the year.
A two-day holiday is slated for both public and private sectors on the occasion of the 47th UAE National Day. 
The holiday will begin on December 2 and run until December 3, Monday. Most residents will get a long four day holiday, adding their regular Friday and Saturday.  
If you haven't made any plans to fly out of the country during the long weekend, make the most of it by planning a budget holiday in the UAE. 

1. Global Village

In its 23rd season, the Global Village, residents can enjoy the diversity across 27 pavilions representing 78 countries for just Dh15. 
You can keep a tab on the free events and concerts to be held in Global Village on their official website. 
This year, a 'Wheel of the World' has been redesigned to feature a huge 50-meter LED screen for live scenes, shows and views of Dubai.
What more, now you can take an electric abra and enjoy the ride along the water canal.

Timings: 3.30 pm  until half an hour prior to park closure

2. Dubai Fountain

The light and music show at the Dubai fountain is one of the must-do things on every visitor's list. Now you explore the grand experience going closer to the fountain as a fountain broad walk has been installed only 9 meters away from the fountains!
You can buy the tickets at the Fountain promenade, Burj Park and At the Top, Burj Khalifa ticket counters.

3. Fireworks for National Day

Fireworks have been announced to take place at Dubai Festival City Mall for UAE National Day weekend. Residents can catch not one, but two fireworks shows at 8pm and 10pm on Sunday December 2 at Festival Bay. 

4. Coffee Museum

Coffee is an integral part of many cultures and you can walk through the history of the popular drink at the Coffee Museum in  Dubai's heritage district, Al Fahidi.
As you walk around the courtyard, you can see neatly stacked artifacts and antiques, dating back to century. On display is a 300-year-old clay jug used by the Ethiopians. A level up, there is literature room with texts related to coffee from the eighteenth century to present times.

5. Dubai Museum 

Located at Al Fahidi Fort, built in 1787, you can dig into the history of the Emirates before the discovery of oil. The museum opened in 1971, features recreated Arab houses, mosque, Souks, date farms and desert life. Also on display are exhibits on pearl diving from the yesteryears. 
Timings: Saturday to Thursday, 8:30 until 8:30, and Fridays from 2.30 to 8.30
Price: Dh3 for adults, Dh1 for children

6. Dubai Safari Park

The Dh1 billion new Dubai Safari Park spread over 119 hectares provides visitors and residents a close encounter with over 2,500 animals from 250 species in an open exhibit through four villages - African, Asian, Arabian and open Safari Village. Dubai Safari aims to be home to 5,000 animals by 2020.
Price: Dh30 for children, Dh85 for adults. 

7. Starry solitude in desert! 

When was the last time you spent some quiet time under the stars? A desert safari in Dubai is one of the adventures you can try if you have the evening by your side. You can enjoy some sand dune bashing in the 4X4 vehicles, click pictures with the camels and even camp out in the desert.

8. Atlantis Lost Chambers

9. World's largest butterfly garden 

Visit world's largest covered butterfly garden from 9 am to 6 pm. Located next to Dubai Miracle Garden which opened in November, you can take a walk in the midst of thousands of fresh blooms.

10. Dubai Frame

Standing tall at Zabeel Park, the Dh260 million project tells the story of the past, present and future of Dubai. The two 150-meter high transparent glass towers are connected by a 93-meter bridge where visitors can get a 360-degree view of the city. The North shows the landmarks of old Dubai, including Deira, Umm Hurair and Karama, while the South portrays the modern shopping malls, Sheikh Zayed Road skyscrapers and Burj Khalifa.

11. Dubai Miracle Garden

12. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

One of the must-do things in Abu Dhabi is visiting the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Use your time to visit the largest mosque in the country.
Spread over 60,570 sq ft., the carpet in the main prayer hall is the world's largest carpet along with seven imported chandeliers.

13. Get arty at Louvre

14. Tour across Abu Dhabi 

If you do manage to reach Abu Dhabi in time for a city tour, hop on and explore. Starting with Emirates Palace, Heritage Village, Saadiyat Island, Ferrari Theme Park, Yas Island - you would have seen enough places to tick your bucket list.
