Blessed parents from across the UAE welcomed their newborn babies on the joyous occasion of Eid Al Adha on Tuesday. While 10 newborns - five girls and five boys - were born at Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi, Lathifa Women and Children Hospital in Dubai welcomed eight new babies on this special day.
Burjeel Hospital successfully welcomed two sets of Eid Al Adha twins into the world, with the first set of twin boys being born a few seconds after midnight.
Baby boys Mohammed and Hamdan were welcomed by their parents - Saudi mother and Emirati father Zayed Al Katheeri - with the help of consultant Dr Sausan Abdul Rahman from the hospital's gynaecology and obstetrics team.
The twins join three other siblings in the family. The parents said: "We are over the moon at the birth of our two healthy baby boys. The delivery of our twin boys is the best gift we could ever imagine, and we are so excited to welcome the twins into the world this Eid Al Adha."
Emirati parents Ahmed Alnuaimi and Fatma Al Hosani were thrilled to welcome little Al Reem Alnuaimi and Noora Alnuaimi into the world. The mother and her babies are happy and healthy, and the family is looking forward to the future with their new additions.
Meanwhile, Latifa Women and Children Hospital welcomed eight new babies on Tuesday. The first birth was a baby girl from Cameroon, born at 2.14am. The nurse in-charge at the hospital confirmed to Khaleej Times that all mothers and babies are in good health.
At Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women and Children in Abu Dhabi, the first baby boy, an Emirati, was born at 12.08am. The baby weighed 2.7kg. This was the parent's first child, and they have decided to name him Zayed.
The baby was delivered by Dr Merlyne Acedilla, obstetrics and gynaecology specialist at the hospital. She said: "The baby was due only two weeks later.
However, he joined the family on this special occasion for everyone and doubled his parents' joy and also ours," said Dr Acedilla.
The second baby at the hospital was a girl and was born at 1.11am to an American and Russian parents. The baby weighed 3.6kg, and she is the second child of the family. The third baby, also a girl, was born at 2.18am to a Pakistani family, even a first for the family.
Her father said: "We are truly blessed. Both the baby and the mother are in good health. Our celebration is now double." Mariano Gonzalez, the chief executive officer of the hospital, said: "Including the 10 babies born at the hospital on Arafat Day, and the early hours on Eid's first day, a total of 8,805 babies have been born at our hospital since we opened in October 2015."
