In accordance with the mourning period declared for the 45 UAE servicemen killed in Yemen, the UAE National Election Committee (NEC) has decided to postpone Federal National Council election campaigns until September 8.
The electoral campaign, which was originally scheduled to begin today, will now commence on Wednesday, September 9.
In a statement, NEC Chairman and Minister of State for FNC Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash offered his condolences to the families of the martyrs.
A total of 341 candidates from across the seven emirates are registered to campaign over the course of a 25 day period, which will now end on October 2.
