The United Arab Emirates has the ability and readiness to deliver one of the most successful expos - Dubai Expo 2020, under the theme, 'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future'.
This was reiterated by Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, UAE Minister of State and Board Representative of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee and Director-General of Bureau Dubai Expo 2020, in an interview with Emirates News Agency, WAM, recently.
Al Hashemi said she hopes that Expo Dubai 2020 will fulfill the ambitions and aspirations of the UAE's wise leadership, led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Al Hashemi said that during her participation in the UAE National Day celebrations in the country's pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, she met with a number of Italian businessmen to learn about their planned offerings for the next expo in Dubai.
The minister went on to note that since Dubai won the bid to host the event - which will be the first time the exhibition will be held in the Middle East - the organising committee has hosted meetings with businessmen, investors, and owners of large companies and SME's in Dubai and the UAE to discuss their contributions to the exhibition, as part of preparations for the event in which more than 180 countries are expected to participate.
Al Hashemi also commended the National Media Council for their efforts in organising the UAE pavilion in Expo Milano, praising the pavilion's "unique and excellent design and content which reflected a respectable image of the UAE in a major international forum." - Wam
