The inaugural session of Dubai Knowledge Majlis was held on Wednesday under the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) has launched the initiative aimed at providing a platform for senior Dubai government officials to gain insights from leading experts on vital issues impacting the future of the region.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline, and top officials from the government and semi-government organisations attended the event.
A talk by Vali Nasr, the Dean of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, US, was the key event of the first session.
Speaking about the initiative, Shaikh Mohammed said: "The Dubai Knowledge Majlis is a promising initiative that will help us strengthen our strategic thinking on how we can continue to thrive and grow in these rapidly changing and complex times."
Director-General of the GDMO, Mona Al Marri said: "The timing of this event is critical given the increasing complexity of our region, and rapid changes are taking place on many levels. These sessions are designed to help Dubai stay ahead of the game, work better together as an integrated government, taking advantage of new opportunities, and building the strategic agility needed to survive and thrive in the future."
Al Marri revealed that the Dubai Knowledge Majlis will continue to host international thought leaders and experts on strategic issues at sessions that will be held every quarter.
