In her police complaint, the woman alleged that the travel agency swindled Dh60,000 from her.

The agency had promised to provide her with a residency visa and a job.

“They only brought me here to the country on a visit visa and made me break my stay after gradually embezzling my money,” she said.

Four on trial over cattle thefts

The RAK Court of Misdemeanour has started hearing a case in which a gang of four persons, including a minor, is charged with stealing 31 heads of cattle from different areas in the emirate. The court bench, presided by Judge Mohammed Al Fasfus, ordered the adjournment of the case to May 30 for the defence lawyer to present his arguments. The court records show that the thefts happened last year.

The police received complaints from several farmers and owners of cattle pens that unidentified robbers stole their livestock. The police managed to arrest the four suspects.
