Filed on October 9, 2006

ABU DHABI — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has issued directives to build four mosques in Yemen’s Socotra archipelago.

Shaikh Khalifa also ordered the supply of medical equipment to Socotra’s main hospital.

A plane carrying 40 tonnes of foodstuff and wheelchairs for disabled left yesterday to Socotra as a gift from Shaikh Khalifa to the brotherly people of Yemen.

Meanwhile, President Khalifa yesterday received a message from President Issaias Afwerki of Eritrea dealing with bilateral relations. The message was delivered to Dr Tariq Al Haidan, acting foreign ministry under-secretary, by Osman Mohammed Omer, Eritrean Ambassador, during a meeting here yesterday.
