The event is being organised by the Department of Culture and Information at Expo Sharjah.
This year’s event will feature over 200,000 titles from 53 countries.
A total of 789 publishing houses from around the world are expected to participate in the 29th edition of the book fair which runs at the Sharjah Expo Centre till November 6.
Organisers invited shaikhs, ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and senior officials to attend the opening ceremony. After the opening, Shaikh Sultan will tour the venue of the event and meet participating publishers.
Abdullah Al Owais, Chairman, Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, said the event plays a vital role in bolstering cultural interaction between the UAE and Arab publishers and creative individuals and their foreign counterparts.
A series of cultural activities and vocational programmes for adults will accompany the book fair, consisting of courses regarding UAE publishers, pictorial books and digital publishers.
