The new building of the school will come up on a plot donated earlier by Dr Shaikh Sultan, adjacent to the existing one and house the boys' section of the school. The new building is expected to be operational by academic year 2004, when the school changes to a single-shift one.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony yesterday, Shaikh Saud paid tributes to the service rendered by the Indian community in the UAE and hoped that the Indo-UAE friendship would be further enhanced in the future. He also called upon the students to make full use of the opportunities that are being made available to them. The school will have 80 classrooms and all the facilities in the existing campus.
The Indian Consul-General, Dr. George Joseph who attended the ceremony highlighted in his speech the need for mutually benefiting from exchange programmes between Indian students and their counterparts in the UAE in the fields of Mathematics, Science and Information Technology. Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfaa, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and patron of the Sharjah Indian School and Indian Association Sharjah, in his speech praised the overall performance of students of the school. K.N.N. Pillai, the Principal of the school, drew attention to the excellent academic performance of the students of the school.
