More bus services in Sharjah during Eid holidays

SHARJAH - Sharjah Transport is set to increase the frequency of bus services and extend the service time to meet the expected rush of passengers during Eid holidays.

Head of Corporate Communication at Sharjah Transport Saeed Abdallah said additional services would be operated in collaboration with the transport operators concerned in the Abu Dhabi Transport Department.

“The public shuttle service will also be available on intercity bus routes one more hour till midnight on the first two days (of Eid),” Abdallah said.

Intercity buses are expected to make 2,170 trips and city buses 1,084 trips.

As part of Eid preparations, more facilities would be available in the Eastern and Central regions. “This is aimed to commute passengers of the cities of Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn in the Central region, and Al Dhaid, Meliha, and Madam in the Central region.”

Twenty additional trips will be provided on the Eastern coast route (No. 119).

A special committee would ensure smooth bus services, which would be available from 7am to 12 midnight during Eid days.

More taxis will be operated around shopping centres, public parks, hospitals and humanitarian departments. More control patrols will be deployed at Jubail and Sharq bus stations.
