Under the patronage and presence of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the second edition of the 'UAE Pioneers' award ceremony will be held today at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, as part of the 44th UAE National Day celebrations.
The organising committee of UAE Pioneers initiative has stated that preparations have been completed and the event will be attended by national personalities, government officials and private sector representatives in the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammed will honour 44 distinguished Emirati personalities in various fields such as education, health, innovation, technology, sports, arts, culture, media and philanthropy as well as government and military sectors and distinguished initiatives.
Shaikh Mohammed will also launch the '2014 UAE Pioneers' book, in the presence of some of the pioneers who were honoured last year.
The pioneers will sign the book and share their experiences with the audience.
The committee said it has received more than 2,600 entries to nominate as UAE Pioneers through the website of the initiative and social media channels.
The committee has reviewed the names and shortlisted them after checking with the relevant authorities, while the remaining names have been archived. - Wam
