The two Emiratis who went missing in Bavaria, Germany, have been found.
Twenty one-year-old Twairish Eisa Al Khaili who is suffering from Down Syndrome and 10-year-old Ahmed Suhail Al Khaili, both cousins, had gone missing from Bavaria, Germany, on Thursday.
The boys were with their parents in Munich, where they had gone for treatment. Hamad Al Khaili, maternal uncle of Twairish who was also accompanying the family, said the boys went missing while they were in the market on Thursday. The area was crowded with tourists and shoppers.
The UAE embassy in Germany had made extensive efforts to search for the two children. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Germany, said a team was set up to follow up the matter, while several UAE consulate staff were available since Thursday at the place from where the boys went missing.
"Full coordination was made with the German security entities, including Bavarian police," said Al Junaibi. The German authorities had given high priority to find the boys, he added.
The two of them got into an internal train which took them to the international railway station from where they took another train to Nurburg hoping to see their parents there, said Al Junaibi. The police there found the two of them roaming around and took them to the child shelter where they spent one night.
Since photos of the pair were circulated in all public places and media outlets, including TV stations, broadcasting networks and federal and local police websites, one man recognised the children. The police narrowed down on the shelter, and its management soon identified the two and handed them over to the police. The police then coordinated with the embassy which received them and handed them over to their parents.
Suhail Al Khaili, father of Ahmed, expressed gratitude to the UAE embassy in Germany.
