Khalifa foundation sends 5,000 Iftar meals to Togo

Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation's Iftar packages will be distributed in various locations across the country to the needy families and people with special needs.

Lome - The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KF) hosted a grand Iftar banquet at the Islamic Union Centre in Togo, which was attended by the Egyptian and Libyan ambassadors besides others.

Abdelmola Ahmed Alhuraishi, President of the Islamic Union Centre, said the banquet is part of Iftar meals project carried out by the centre in cooperation with KF.

The KF has dispatched 5,000 Iftar meals to be distributed in various locations across the country to the needy families and people with special needs.

Abdelmola extended thanks and appreciation to the UAE’s leadership, people and KF for this humanitarian gesture. The KF has so far distributed 790 Iftar meals to the needy families and other beneficiaries.The distribution of aid came within the Ramadan programme implemented by KF outside the country and covers 65 countries.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Red Crescent has distributed 1,000 Iftar meals at Al Aqsa Mosque yards over the past two days as part of its Ramadan Programme in Palestine. The Emirates Red Crescent’s office in Palestine oversaw hosting Iftar banquets, which saw a large turnout.

Shaikh Azzam Khatib, Director-General of Jerusalem’s Awqaf Department, said the Emirates Red Crescent has a “continuous presence” in the Al Aqsa.

He pointed out that food sponsored by the Emirates Red Crescent is distributed daily among those who fast in Khassaki Sultan Tekke. About 1,000 daily Iftar meals are distributed as part of this initiative.
