The event, which is part of the week-long Dubai Fashion 2003 which started on February 2, will also include the unveiling of the collection of Christian Lacroix which is characterised by an explosion of colours and the chance to be fully free in his designs. Sponsored by Nokia Middle East, Prisme International, Damas Jewellery, Royal Mirage and Paris Gallery, this grand event is being held under the patronage of Shaikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum. This was announced yesterday at a Press briefing at the Arabian Court which was attended by Eric Jacolliot, International Communication Director, Van Cleef and Arpels; Eric Jouniaux, International Retail Development Manager; and Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Damas. "Our jewellery is all about creativity and what we have here is not only high end jewellery. We have something for everyone," said Mr Jacolliot.

Van Cleef and Arpels is recognised worldwide for their exquisite craftsmanship, design and functionality, and its designs have adorned politicians, royalty, Hollywood legends like Sharon Stone, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Maria Callas, Princess Grace, Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Julia Roberts, to name a few.

Their use of coloured gems and large diamonds make each of their ornaments distinctive to look at and wear. "We are proud to be associated with Van Cleef and Arpels, and in a place like Dubai, which is fast becoming the attraction for all the international brands," said Mr Abdullah. Founded in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and his brother-in-law Charles and Julien Arpels they have become distinguished with their world famous jewels. They have become synonymous with producing innovative techniques and designs. The Mystery set is a fine example of this.
