Calligraphers honoured on int'l Arabic language day

Sharjah - Sharjah Economic Development Department honoured the calligraphers who completed "Arabic Language and Calligraphy Rules" workshop.

Coinciding with the Arabic Language International Day on December 18, and on the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to empower the Arabic language which is an element of identity that we should protect, the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) honoured a number of Arab calligraphers at its headquarters within the department's celebrations on such a day.
Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD chairman, honoured the calligraphers who completed "Arabic Language and Calligraphy Rules" workshop. Also, the events included a lecture under the title "My Language, My Identity", a Calligraphy workshop, as well as number of Arabic literature novels were given to employees to stimulate them to read and expand their knowledge.
He said that the department cares about organising number of awareness workshops and courses for its employees in order to use the Arabic language correctly in all economic practices in Sharjah. Also, the department intensified its efforts to educate investors about the importance of the Arabic language rules to imply the required requirements due to the directives of Dr Shaikh Sultan.
Furthermore, SEDD launched a campaign through the social media where it calls the public to place their comments and report about any errors they find in the signboards so that the department would take the necessary actions on such a matter.
