With $100 billion trade exchange between the two regions, economic relations will be at the heart of the discussions.

“The UAE alone is investing about five or six billion in Latin America,” said Hasan Abdul Rahman, the forum’s executive manager. “Last year, Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, spent over a month in Latin America on an official visit, having a delegation of at least 100 members,” he added, stressing the interest of the UAE in central and south American countries. According to him, the interest of Arab countries in Latin America is not just trade, but also food security, environment, education and culture.

Established just four years ago, the forum brings together high-level representatives of both regions’ states, meeting annually to hopefully sign various deals.

The forum in Abu Dhabi has attracted 120 leaders from the two regions, including five former ministers.
