An African housemaid accused of sexually abusing her sponsor's little girl has been cleared of the charge by the Fujairah Court of First Instance.
Court records show that the domestic helper used to work for the family and take care of the child.
The mother once found that her daughter was physically exhausted and disturbed. The child said she was not well. When her mother asked why she was feeling that way, she pointed at the domestic helper.
The father immediately lodged a complaint with the Fujairah Police.
The defendant was arrested by the police and referred to the public prosecution. While denying all the charges, the maid said that she did nothing wrong to the child or anyone in the family.
The prosecutors, however, referred her to the Fujairah Court of First Instance where she pleaded not guilty and called the charges against her "baseless".
The father submitted two reports issued by the physicians, who examined his daughter at the Fujairah hospital, and another private hospital, which affirmed sexual abuse of the child.
The court, based on the forensic report which ruled out child abuse, dismissed the case, and ordered the release of the maid.
The public prosecution has challenged the verdict before the higher court.
