A three-year-old girl died after falling off the balcony of her sixth floor apartment in the emirate of Fujairah.
Brigadier Humaid Mohammed Al Yamahi, director general of the police operations in Fujairah, said the girl was staying in the apartment in a building located on the Hamad bin Abdullah road in Fujairah city.
"The central operations room of the Fujairah police was alerted of the incident on Saturday at 1pm."
Rescue teams, a national ambulance, and paramedics were dispatched to the site immediately, he added.
"Investigations showed that the girl, who was left unattended in her apartment on the sixth floor, walked to the window and climbed on a chair to cross into the balcony."
The victim then climbed on the balcony railing, lost balance, and fell down on a car parked under the building.
"The girl sustained critical injuries and fractures all over her body, and bled excessively."

The neighbours heard the loud bang, and alerted the Fujairah police that sent rescue teams to the scene.
"The victim, who was in a serious condition, was rushed to the intensive care unit of the nearest hospital. Unfortunately, she passed away at 7pm."
Brig. Al Yamahi urged all parents to keep an eye on their kids, particularly the little ones.
"Young children should never be left unattended, and chairs should never be left in the balcony or close to the window," he said.
