 Birla Institute of Technology, RAK Campus project "Solar Energy-Redefined" has been awarded the runners-up (second place) at the 41st Middle East Electricity awards 2016 under the category Future Generations by Eng Fatima Al Foora Al Shamsi, the Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Clean Energy and Desalinated Water Affairs.
The project was shortlisted for the finals held on March 1-3 at the World Trade Centre, Dubai. The entire project got very good accolades from the visitors to the event.
In a statement Birla Institute extended its appreciation towards BIT RAK Mechanical Engineering students, Sarthak Kapoor (Diploma VI) and Alan Kumar (Diploma VI) under the guidance of Department faculties - Vilas Kailas and Prashanth T. - for their teamwork during the project.
About the Project:
The work concentrates on effective demonstration of cooking different food products through solar energy. Conventional form of solar cooking utilizes a solar cooker which consumes time and is not an economical option. This project demonstrates a simple and cost effective way of cooking food products using a glass bowl with a selective coating with high operating temperatures.
