A woman was charged at a Dubai court on Thursday after she allegedly misused an ID card belonging to an inspector working for the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The prosecution said the Syrian woman used the ID to avoid getting parking tickets.
The 34-year-old marketing manager is accused of misusing an authentic official document that was not hers and wrongfully benefitting from it. She denied the charge at the Court of First Instance.
The case dates back to April 11 and was registered at Al Muraqqabat police station.
The ID card belongs to a paid parking inspector with the RTA. He told the prosecutor that he found his ID, issued by his workplace, placed on the windshield of a car. "The female car owner (the defendant) then arrived and told me she had found the card about two months earlier and used it to avoid getting parking tickets."
Another RTA parking inspector said he contacted his colleague after he spotted his official card put on the windshield of a car. "He told me after I called him that it was not his car and he called the police," the witness told the prosecutor.
The public prosecution evidence included a letter from the RTA saying that the ID was issued to the inspector to introduce himself as he carried out his field duties. The female manager admitted to the charge of misusing the ID during the public prosecution investigation. The trial has been postponed to July 30.
