The Burj Khalifa turned off half of its lights to send across a strong message on women empowerment.
It was carried out as part of UAE's participation in the global #HeForShe campaign, following the directives of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Dubai is supporting the HeForShe aim to achieve gender equality.
HeForShe is a solidarity campaign for the advancement of gender equality, initiated by the UN. The goal is to achieve equality by encouraging all genders as agents of change and take action against negative stereotypes and behaviours, faced by people with feminine personalities/genders.
