After announcing visa-free privileges for select countries in 2017, Taiwan recently announced that it will extend the policy for passport holders of three countries until July 2019.
Taiwan's visa-free policy was initially intended to run during a nine-month trial period.
According to the Central News Agency, Philippines, Thailand, and Brunei passport holders will be able to enjoy visa-free entry to Taiwan until July 31, 2019.  Visitors from the three countries will be granted visa-free stays of no more than 14 days.
The visa-free policy began in November 2017 and was launched to increase visitors to the country. Currently, the policy caters to visitors from 10 Southeast Asian countries, six South Asian countries, Australia, and New Zealand.
Other countries were not granted an extension due to border security, public safety and illegal immigration issues.
