Dubai's Jumeira beach has been temporarily closed to the public due to inclement weather conditions, Khaleej Times has learned.

An onsite official from the Emergency and Rescue Management Department from Dubai Municipality confirmed that the beaches were closed at 12pm Saturday afternoon and will remain closed until tonight (Saturday, June 16).
A rip current is a strong, localised, and narrow current of water which moves directly away from the shore. It can present a hazard to swimmers who might get caught in the unsuspecting tide.

According to a weather report from the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM),  the seas will remain rough throughout Saturday, with occurrences such as rip tides and high waves making beaches very unsafe for the public.
The official added, "The beaches are not safe for the public. We closed at noon on Saturday and will remain closed till later tonight."
Only the Umm Suqiem 2 (Jumeira) beach was closed due to high waves and rip currents on Saturday. Other beaches such as Umm Suqiem 1; Jumiera 1,2 and 3; Al Mamzar Lagoon; Al Mamzar Corniche remained open to the public.
